Dyson dropped our beloved V12 Detect Slim vacuum eerily close to 2023's Black Friday price

The V12 Detect Slim is a bang for your buck even at full price — and now it's significantly cheaper.

SAVE UP TO $220: As of Oct. 29, multiple Dyson cordless vacuums have significant markdowns at Dyson's website, including the Dyson V12 Detect Slim at $429.99 and the Dyson V8 Absolute at $299.99 (both $220 off).

Dyson is getting in on the pre-Black Friday deals action just like all the other big retailers. It's just not officially calling it that.

In the midst of Walmart announcing its Black Friday plans on Oct. 28 and Best Buy doing the same the week prior, Dyson is also giving us a sneak peak as to what to expect this November with an unnamed, but not-so-casual sale on several cordless Dysons. While Dyson doesn't shy away from dropping prices on its vacuums whenever throughout the year, these discounts are more intense than we're used to seeing on any random sale day, making them feel like a true nod to the upcoming holiday season.

For instance, both the Dyson V12 Detect Slim and Dyson V8 Absolute are just $20 or $30 from last year's Black Friday prices, and the V15 Detect Submarine Absolute (the one that mops) being on sale at all is a rarity in itself. Unless you really want to wait and see if you can save a few more bucks come Black Friday, we say make the investment now and enjoy your new Dyson for an extra month.

Why we like it

The cheapest way to bring Dyson's iconic dust-highlighting laser technology home is through the V12 Detect Slim. And yes, the laser is worth the extra coin over the $299.99 V8 — hands down.

The V12 Detect Slim has been my ride or die since it first graced the floors of my apartment two years ago, and I'll recommend it to anyone who asks which Dyson (or which cordless vacuum at all) they should get. This is almost fully due to the impact of that laser I just hyped up, which illuminates tiny crumbs, fur, and specks of dust that the naked eye may not pick up on, but that your bare feet or allergies might. The laser is such a comfort that I actually use it in my robot vacuum testing to see what a botvac may have left behind after a cleaning run.

The included attachments are also noteworthy, namely the mini motorized tool that is absolutely crucial in keeping up with furniture or carseats that pets sit on. If you're comparing the V12 Detect Slim to a Shark cordless vacuum in a similar price range, just know that I'd personally choose this attachment (which Shark makes you buy separately) over Shark's self-empty dock.
