M4 Max briefly leaked on Apple’s website — what it tells us about the MacBook Pro

Of course, Apple removed it quickly.

Apple is announcing a bunch of Mac devices this week — and some of it may have just leaked early.

As spotted by developer Charlie Joseph on X (formerly Twitter), an image asset for the M4 Max chip was briefly on Apple's website before being taken down. Given that there is no M4 Max chip yet (at least, not at the time of writing), that's a pretty big leak. With everyone expecting new MacBook Pros to get announced this week, it seems reasonable to assume there will be a model with an M4 Max chip in it.

Of course, it's impossible to say what that will look like on a practical level right now. The M4 Max could provide big boosts to battery efficiency, overall performance, and maybe even gaming performance if Apple felt like going down that road. But without even so much as a press release to go off of, it's tough to predict how much better M4 Max will be.

There will also most likely be regular M4 and M4 Pro models, too. The M4 Pro also made its way into the new Mac mini. If you've been in the market for a new MacBook Pro, keep an eye out.
